Running for public office is not something most people set out to do lightly. It requires time, sacrifice, and a willingness to be scrutinized in ways most professions never experience. For me, the decision to run for Utah County Commissioner came from a growing conviction that our county government should work more closely with the people it serves.
Utah County is an incredible place to live, raise a family, and build a future. It is one of the fastest-growing counties in the country, filled with hardworking families, thriving small businesses, and communities that care deeply about their neighbors. That growth brings opportunity, but it also brings responsibility. The decisions made today will shape the quality of life for generations to come.
I decided to run because I believe the county government should remain focused on the people who live here—not on expanding bureaucracy, increasing unnecessary spending, or creating distance between elected officials and residents.
A Commitment to Transparency
One of the most important responsibilities of a county commissioner is to ensure government operates openly and transparently.
Too often, residents feel disconnected from decisions that affect their taxes, infrastructure, development, and public services. When government processes become difficult to understand, trust begins to erode.
My goal is to restore and strengthen that trust.
As commissioner, I want to ensure that decisions are communicated clearly, budgets are understandable, and residents know exactly how their tax dollars are being used. Transparency should not be an afterthought—it should be a standard.
When citizens understand how decisions are made, they can participate more meaningfully in shaping the future of their communities.
Responsible Stewardship of Taxpayer Dollars
Every dollar collected in taxes represents the hard work of Utah County residents.
Government must treat that money with the same level of care and discipline that families use in managing their household budgets. Fiscal responsibility is not simply a talking point—it is a governing principle.
Utah County must continue to deliver essential services while ensuring that spending remains efficient and accountable.
That means:
Evaluating programs to ensure they produce measurable value
Avoiding unnecessary expansion of government departments
Seeking cost-effective solutions for infrastructure and services
Prioritizing long-term financial stability
Growth in Utah County is inevitable. Wasteful spending should not be.
Keeping Government Focused on Families
The foundation of Utah County has always been strong families.
County government plays a role in creating an environment where families can thrive—through responsible planning, infrastructure investment, and policies that support safe and healthy communities.
Decisions about transportation, public safety, land use, and economic development all affect family life. They influence commute times, housing availability, recreational opportunities, and community stability.
My goal as commissioner is to ensure that every major decision considers its impact on families.
Are we building communities that are livable and sustainable? Are we protecting the character of our neighborhoods? Are we ensuring opportunities for the next generation?
These questions must guide policy discussions.
Representing People Over Bureaucracy
Government systems naturally grow over time. Processes multiply, regulations accumulate, and layers of administration expand.
While many of these systems begin with good intentions, they can eventually make it harder for residents and businesses to interact with government effectively.
County leadership must continually evaluate whether policies are serving the public—or simply maintaining bureaucracy.
I believe county government should focus on solving problems rather than creating unnecessary obstacles. Residents should be able to work with their county government without navigating complicated systems or excessive red tape.
Preparing Utah County for the Future
Utah County is experiencing historic growth. New residents arrive every year, new businesses continue to invest in our communities, and infrastructure demands continue to increase.
Growth brings both opportunity and pressure.
Transportation systems must keep pace. Public safety services must expand responsibly. Land use decisions must balance development with preservation of the natural environment and community character.
Preparing for the future requires thoughtful planning and strong leadership.
As commissioner, I want to approach growth with a long-term perspective—ensuring that development decisions today strengthen our county tomorrow.
Listening to the Community
Leadership in local government begins with listening.
Residents often have the clearest understanding of the challenges facing their communities. They experience traffic congestion, housing pressures, infrastructure gaps, and community needs firsthand.
A county commissioner should never become distant from the people they represent.
My commitment is to remain accessible, to listen carefully to community concerns, and to bring those voices into the decision-making process.
Effective leadership does not come from having all the answers. It comes from bringing the right people together to solve problems.
A Vision for Utah County
My vision for Utah County is simple:
A county government that is transparent and accountable
Responsible management of taxpayer resources
Policies that support families and thriving communities
Thoughtful planning that prepares for continued growth
Leadership that listens to residents and acts in their best interests
Utah County has a bright future ahead. With responsible leadership and engaged citizens, we can ensure that growth strengthens our communities rather than overwhelms them.
Running for county commissioner is my way of contributing to that future.
I believe that local government works best when it remains close to the people it serves. By focusing on transparency, fiscal responsibility, and family-centered policies, we can ensure Utah County continues to be a place where opportunity and community thrive.
